Araw ng Kagitingan

Araw ng kagitingan or Valor day is a day to honor the Filipino and American soldiers who stood their ground against Japanese soldiers who invaded the Philippines during World war II.

Araw ng Kagitingan also known as Bataan Day, is a national observance in the Philippines which commemorates the fall of Bataan during World War II and honor the Bataan heroes who filled a huge role to slow down the enemy forces. The Bataan Death March was the culmination of a long battle against an invading force, and was a bloody indicator of the brutality of the Imperial Japanese Forces that occupied the Philippines. The captured American and Filipino soldiers were in bad health, after fighting a protracted battle with little food and water.

It falls on April 9, although in 2009, its celebration was moved to April 6 to avoid it from coinciding with Maundy Thursday.
